The need for nuclear weapons did not end with the fall of the Soviet Union. In contrast to the arguments of those who would abolish them, these weapons are likely to play a more important role for the United States and its allies in the future. Why? We must now deal with adversaries who want to use their nuclear arsenals as substitutes for a relative disadvantage in conventional military power.
Conventional wars could easily spiral into nuclear ones if the United States does not maintain its nuclear capability to deter them. In this context, we believe it is naive to suggest that the United States lead the way toward Global Zero by allowing its arsenal to atrophy and die. Smaller nations can stand a chance of defending themselves against larger nations that have more money and military capabilities when the have nuclear weapons. This can increase the peace and make it less likely that certain nations will get bullied or invaded.
We need them for the security of our nation should an enemy threaten us or risk the lives of in our country we would have them for security to ensure that nothing happens.he added benefit of security makes people feel safe. Just the mention of nuclear bomb can stop an entire country in its tracks from invading. With such power behind them, nations that have nuclear weapons are far less likely to be attacked by another nation, even if that other nation also has a nuclear arsenal. The better a nation can defend itself, the more likely it is that no one will want to risk going against them and that results in more peacetime.

The better a nation can defend itself, the more likely it is that no one will want to risk going against them and that results in more peacetime. This fact also makes it easier for diplomatic talks to work out since no one really wants to get into a conflict that can end with nuclear weapons. Removing every single nuclear weapon from the earth can leave an opening for some combative nation or group to build their own and pose a real risk to others.
